آهک یا آهک زنده در انگلیسی به صورت Quicklime می باشد و پس از هیدراته شدن نام انگلیسی آن Slake Lime است. همچنین سنگ آهک که ماده اصلی و شکل طبیعی آهک بوده به شکل Limestone می باشد
